When the width of a hinge is greater than the height, the hinge is considered a “Wide Throw” Hinge. Wide throw hinges are used when more clearance or throw is required behind the door when it is opened to 180 degrees. The wide throw hinge sets the pivot point out away from the door allowing the door to open 180 degrees. These type of hinge are normally used when doors are set in a reveal and are required to open 180°. Plain bearing is recommended for average frequency doors while 2-ball
bearing for high frequency usage. Check out our entire line of Door Closers that pair well with our Wide Throw Hinges.
