2. Prepare the cabinet door
Use your measuring tape and pencil to measure and mark where the hinges will be placed on your cabinet door.
3. Drill hinge cups
Use a Forstner bit to drill holes, or hinge cups, in the marked spots on your cabinet door. These cups should be the exact size specified in the hinge instructions, usually 35mm in diameter.
4. Attach the hinges to the cabinet door
Insert the hinges into the hinge cups and secure them with screws.
5. Prepare the cabinet frame
Mark the positions on the cabinet frame where the mounting plates will be fixed. Ensure these are level and at the correct height.
Pro tip: Frameless cabinets, also called full overlay cabinets, attach to the cabinet's side walls. For these cabinets, mark the position on the side walls where the mounting plates will be fixed.
6. Attach mounting plates
Screw the mounting plates onto the cabinet frame.
7. Hang the cabinet door
Align the hinges with the mounting plates and clip them into place. This step usually does not require tools, as most blum hinges simply snap onto the mounting plates.
8. Adjust for perfect alignment
After the cabinet door is up, make final adjustments to perfect alignment.
Pro tip: Blum hinges for full overlay cabinets typically allow for three-dimensional adjustments. This means cabinet doors can be adjusted vertically, horizontally, and in depth.
